Please…
Sign in when arriving and sign out when leaving.
Clean up your space and leave the studio cleaner than when you arrived.
We love our food but discourage eating or drinking in the Studio.
The Studio is not a safe environment for children or pets.
If something needs attention or isn’t working, tell someone about it.
Respect other people’s work. Do not touch or disturb their work or shelf.
Label your personal supplies and store them on your shelf.
Help us conserve water and paper towels (newspaper cleans sinks well).
Clean up after yourself.
Do NOT touch the kiln unless you are an approved member of the Kiln Team. It is a huge electrical hazard.
Clean-Up Procedures:
Turn off the wheel.
Clean your work area by wiping all surfaces with a wet sponge.
Clean up dry clay on the floor with a wet mop. Brooms raise silica dust.
Clean any and all equipment you’ve used, including wheels, slab roller (replace the cover), extruder, tools, sink, brushes, etc.
Clean the wedging table if used
Return ware boards, bats, and other items to proper storage areas.
Put away Studio and personal belongings.
Everything must be put back on the shelves clean, not left by the sink
Always sign your work. Unsigned pieces will not be fired.
Pick up your bisque and glazed work promptly. Pieces still in the kiln room after one month will be moved to a box and will be discarded after a second month.
Be cautious about what you put down the sink. Use the three-bucket system to conserve water and save clay. Dispose of paint and unusable clay in the trash, use the recycle bin if appropriate, and find other ways to discard things that might fill the drain traps.
Use earbuds rather than a radio when sharing the space with others.
If you’re the last person to leave, close and lock the windows, turn off the lights and lock the doors.
